1990 Trimbach Clos Ste. Hune and Frederic Emile

Continuing the theme of consuming some of my better bottles, I decided to compare the 1990 Trimbach Clos Ste. Hune and the 1990 Frederic Emile.

The Clos Ste. Hune was a hair darker but less evolved. The Frederic Emile was riper and richer. It was great from the start. The Hune needed more time, but eventually opened up beautifully. Probably more complex as well.
Both are terrific. For drinking now, the Frederic Emile is better but I believe in 5+ years the Hune will overtake it.

That’s what I call patience.

Thanks for the notes Eric.

awesome. Two faves.

Thanks, Eric, my fellow Trimbach lover! I am still holding onto my lone 1990 CSH. Unfortunately I drank my last CFE ten years ago.

Every time I have CsH and FE together…the FE is rockin…the CsH needs more time. I can’t wait to have one that is ready!
