TN: 2005 Weingut Robert Weil Kiedricher Gräfenberg Riesling Auslese

2005 Weingut Robert Weil Kiedricher Gräfenberg Riesling Auslese - Germany, Rheingau (7/6/2020)

Drank with Jim and Daun Lester with a salad course when they came over for dinner last weekend. 2nd time I have had this wine. Robert Weil was awarded “Range of the Year” for his 2005 vintage by Gault Millau. The Grafenberg is Weils top site. This was picked at 128 Ochsle and 10.5 grams per liter of acidity. 8.5% alcohol. Only 10% of the fruit was affected by botrytis. This was a half bottle. Solid yellow color. Tropical aromas. A lush, plump and opulent wine with a rich texture. Notes of apricot nectar, orange zest and papaya. The acidity was lower than the last time I had this wine. Not as sweet as what you might expect from an Auslese. Long finish. 93 points.
