2008 Laurent-Perrier Brut Millésimé

Focused and linear without a huge chalky/mineral influence, the fruit quality is all yellow apple and white peach. There's a really lovely underbaked-biscuit note, as well. Nice mouthfeel and texture - perhaps a TOUCH thin in the midpalate - energetic but not excessively acidic and the dosage is well-balanced. The finish is a bit clipped, but fresh and citrus-laden.

I'd say this has a bright future ahead in the cellar in order to open it up and give it a little more breadth and more bottom-end of the EQ spectrum, if that makes sense. As is, this is attractively priced for a vintage bottling from a quality house, but seems to lack just a touch of the transcendence that all great champagne seems to have.

The maiden voyage for my new GLASVIN glasses that arrived today - will put them through their paces with some different wines before coming to a conclusion, but I really dig the feel of them so far.

I was highly impressed with this a few months ago, and I agree it needs more time to show it’s best. The 02 of this is in a great place right now so I’m guessing at least 5 years will do wonders.
