TN: 2012 Rhys Pinot Noir Skyline Vineyard

  • 2012 Rhys Pinot Noir Skyline Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (6/28/2020)
12.8% abv. Medium burgundy red, expressive aromas. Raspberry, cinnamon and baking spices on the palate. Very poised and well behaved, this wine has exceptional focus, depth, balance and length. An outstanding effort. Tastes young and vibrant, many years of enjoyment remain. (95 pts.)

– popped and poured –
– tasted a couple pours non-blind over 2 to 3 hours –

NOSE: warm red fruits.

BODY: medium-light bodied.

TASTE: red-fruited; high acidity; not funky, no tannins. Drinking well now, and may still have room for further improvement. No tertiary elements yet.

Anyone have candidates for Rhys Pinots that have gone tertiary? I feel like digging one out.

2010 Alpine is certainly showing some.

Hang on for a few minutes, and I will let you know about 2008 Horseshoe.

2008 Shoe is definitely showing development.

Correction: 2010 Horseshoe, not Alpine.
