Moving a wine cellar across the country Asap

Hi everyone,

I need to move about 300 bottles of collectible wines across country from VT to Los Angeles asap. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Any recommendations for temperature controlled movers that specialize in it?

Thanks!

JF

There are a number of prior threads on this topic. You might search for “move,” though that will probably have a lot of hits. Or try “shipping.”

Is it palletized and ready to go? If so I’m sure you can find a trucking company like Garrison that has refrigerated trucks (or at least used to) to pick it up and drop it off.

If it’s not ready to go, I think Domaine wine storage will come and pack it up and transport it properly and insured.

I’d try Vine Vault. They do door to door refrigerated shipping and are reliable and not wxpensive

Thanks everyone !

X2. Vine vault is awesome.

Here’s a recent thread … Moving across country this summer: how to ship wine? - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

It’s been many years, but I’ve used Western twice. Not cheap, but no issues either.

I’ve moved wine from VT to CA - one nuance: the roads at the origin. Find out what kind of truck the shipping company will be using, and if it can access the roads there. A lot of the rural parts of the state have seasonal roads, or small trucks only types of roads. For my move they had to put the load on a small truck that went up to our house, and then reload everything to the actual long haul truck that would make the cross country drive, a few miles away.

If you are in a Vermont city, none of that may matter, but there a lot of small dirt roads too.

Ours was a whole house move, so did everything in October, when things tend to be cool but not yet cold nationally.

try Don Echevarria from Vin Brucke

I’ve also used Western with a good experience.

I reached out to Vine Vault so far.

Great people.

A friend of mine is moving wine from Alaska to Denver. Any info on a trucking company that moves that distance? It’s over 3000 miles.

I’d contact vine vault. For the right price I’m sure they’d discuss.

I have used Western Carriers twice. Great experiences

I talked to them already but curious, what is the difference between Vine Vault, Vine Vault Transport and Vine Vault Logistics? They have 3 different websites.

Update:

I ended up using Wine by Air International. Great people, great price, super easy process.
Mike (the owner) was easy to reach and very responsive. Everything was seamless and and temp controlled from source to destination. Wine is safely resting in my offsite.

Highly recommended.

Would you mind sharing how much it cost? You could PM me if you would prefer not to post it publicly.

I’m curious about this too. I’m beginning to think about how to get the rest of my collection from CA to TN. I used Western Carriers when I moved from WA to CA and they did a great job, but the price was eye watering…

We used Advantage Transportation when we moved from WA to GA 4 years ago, and it was incredibly reasonable. One caveat, though - our wine was already palletized and at our storage facility in Seattle when they picked it up. We had boxed up everything at the house and taken it down there beforehand, and they held onto it and got it and what we had in our locker ready for the shipper to pick up when we were ready to receive it. The driver did bring it to the house for us, though, and they didn’t charge us any extra for doing that, although they indicated it would cost more than taking it to another facility with a loading dock. The driver was awesome and went over and above, he actually unwrapped the pallets and stacked the boxes at the back of the truck, and Mr. M and I hauled them up the driveway with a handcart and a wheelbarrow. Good times! Advantage was great to deal with and I’d use them again in a heartbeat.
