TN: 1999 Domaine Laurent Roumier Bonnes Mares, Grand Cru

Has the '99 deep colour. Complex aromatics of dark cherry, menthol, pine needles and sous bois. It is fresh and fleshy, with some smoked meat and musky flavours mixing it up with the rich cherry fruit. As you work into the bottle more perfume comes to the fore and there’s still some muscle to the back-end. Starting to drink really well.

Drinking some lovely juice tonight! Enjoy!

first review I’ve ever seen of this Roumier, wines at 1/10 (or less) the price of his namesake, though I’ve often seen the advertised wines. Interesting and thanks.

Except for the note on the 2000 Chambolle I posted on teh Squires board in around 2005 that you commented on!!!

Good to see a TN on Laurent - have come across this a few times on restaurant wine lists (“Roumier Bonnes Mares… $XXX”) seeming like a great deal because it’s “only” 2 x wholesale of Domaine George. Have always laughed and sent the bottle presented back to pick something else - I must be some kind of snob . Have never tried it, but perhaps now I shall.

2005? I don’t remember breakfast!
