I've asked Sarah this already but I'll the rest of you with over 2-3 cases worth of a single wine from a single vintage. Do you really plan to drink all those?
I answered in a rather flip way the first time you asked because the question is confusing to me and makes me shake my head. Of course I (and I assume pretty much everyone else on this board) plan to drink them all! There are a few check in bottles during youth, then, once the wine is in the zone, you maybe want to drink a bottle a month - 3 cases, for instance, only lasts 3 years. Even if you're only drinking a bottle every other month, 3 cases lasts only 6 years. Almost all of the wine I buy and cellar has a longer life span than that (as do I, I hope!), so I'm not worried about rushing. I intend to drink wine for the rest of my life, and I never want to run out of my favorites.
The only way I can really understand why drinking 2-3 cases (or more, within reason) of a single wine in a single vintage would seem impossible is if you only drink a bottle or two a week. Maybe from that perspective I can see it. But if you are drinking several bottles a week and sometimes entertaining, it's just not that much. And again I'll say it doesn't at all have to preclude variety.
