2016 Lou Dumont Bourgogne Rouge

Never heard of this Gevrey-based négociant. This apparently retails in the mid to upper $20s.

Light to medium crimson color to the rim. The aromas announce Burgundy with good red cherry intensity and a touch of sous-bois. The palate is light but has the solidity and glycerine that make this vintage so attractive. The flavors follow the aromas, the balance is good, and if the flavors don’t have all that much intensity, well, it’s Bourgogne. This is very pleasant, a good accompaniment to local chicken and asparagus sautéed with Asian spices. Rated 88.0, ready to drink. A little pricy for the category and quality, but I would try the next level up if reasonably priced.
