TN: Gaëlle & Jérome Meunier Puligny Champs Gain 2014

Maybe a little too yellow an impression here for a 2014, but certainly not advanced in any other respect. Almond, peach yoghurt and lemon on the nose. A little shy. The taste is more forward, with lactic elements and a lot of fresh lemon juice. Stiff acidity, like a zero dosage champagne. Quite long on structural elements, but most of the fruit remains hidden in the compact finish.
From a small producers located near Mercurey. This is their only and much cherished premier cru. Maybe I expected more richness in this vintage and top flight producers will make something more convincing from this cru, but considering this costs less then most village Puligny’s (I paid €34), it certainly is a nice drink.
