TN: 2011 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots

This was opened up on Tuesday evening alongside a '96 Dom to celebrate 13 years of marriage with my beautiful bride. I figured there are plenty of notes on the Dom, so spared the TN here, instead sharing our experience with this Suchots.

Popped and poured and followed over ~7 hours or so.
This was fragrant from the initial pop/pour with aromatics of spiced cherries and warm earth. The palate took a bit of time to fill in and gain depth, and towards the end it was trending towards warm red strawberries and baking spice tones. H-N’s Suchots is always so enjoyable and while that was the case here, I do think the 2011 vintage is at play as I couldn’t help but think “enjoyable, but not delightful.” I just find 2011’s lacking the verve and depth of structure to compete with the better vintages and that held true here with this Suchots.
