TN: 2002 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses

  • 2002 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru (5/6/2020)
Very pretty nose but rather lean on the palate with cherry/cranberry notes. Pleasant but no better. Filled out some with air but never rose above pleasant.

I should note that this was an auction purchase from about 10 years ago so it might not have been perfect storage.

That’s sad to hear. I have no 2002s, but I am a big fan of Simon Bize, especially with some age, and would have guessed this 1er would be in a good place.

Ditto to what Sarah said. Bummer. I last had this wine about 4 years ago and thought it youngish, but in a correct place then and on track to be very good. Maybe not all is ok with this bottle here.
