TN: 1982 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo Riserva della Castellana Gia Opera Pia

this was a very pleasant surprise. Can’t say i know a lot about the producer…

Rich slightly cloudy mahogany color.

Lovely mature barolo nose. A little funk at first, but with air, roses, damp earth, a hint of tar (but not a lot), autumn leaves.

Very classy and old school palate of ripe cherries, fine dust, great acid and firm tannins. A lot of balance here. Definitely in a tertiary stage but holding on nicely and the acid really makes for a great food wine. (93 pts.)
