TN: 2007 Guy Wach Riesling Wiebelsberg (France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru)

Golden in color. A fully mature nose with persimmon, lemon oil, fruit compote, chalk, oyster shell, some honeyed florals, and petrol. Mid plus weighted for riesling, but with excellent cut. More persimmon, pear compote, florals, chalk, and some honeyed and savory notes on the palate with a great stony, chalky backbone that keeps this focused. It’s rich and with plenty of dry extract, but the acidity and overall balance more than carry its size. It walks the line of Baroque very well. A pretty harmonious, delicious wine drinking at late peak. Delicious with a heritage pork chop and fennel and preserved lemon salad. Drink now. (90 pts.)
