TN: 1966 Leoville Barton

From a 375. Have opened a couple of these in the last 6 months, and most have been DOA. This bottle had better fill and is very intriguing. Very pale translucent rim but still some dark color at its core.
Soy, faded leaves, spicy tobacco and black earth on the nose. Fully tertiary flavors on the palate, with nice crisp red fruit, soy and hints of spice. Lovely old claret.

Wow, amazing that it’s still alive, especially coming from a 375ml!

Cool note. Especially as poured from a 375.

Have had this, from a 750, and enjoyed it.

I bought a cellar from an older gentleman who had owned them since release and had a humidity and temp controlled cellar. It is amazing that in 375’s in a so so vintage they have hung in there.

1966 is not a so-so vintage in Bordeaux. It´s the best on left-bank between 1961 and 1970, and the 2nd best on right bank (after 1964).
Ok, we could also count 1962 in that group.
I´ve had other half bottles of that age that were fine, always depending on storage and fill level (cork quality).
