TN: 2016 Trump Cabernet Sauvignon

So I was gifted a bottle from my cousin who likes Trump a lot. I do not know the price, so that will not be involved. The wine is drinkable, it has notes of black currant, and cherry, but it also has a green note that overwhelms anything that is good about it. I can drink it, but not recommend it, unless the price is no more than $5 a bottle.

I had a much earlier vintage back when it was Kluge Estate. It was undrinkable then.

Sounds like he may be importing grapes from the Loire.

I dunno, many people are saying it is tremendous. Maybe the best wine ever.

I had this once. Pretty much what Otto said - a barely tolerable bargain bin wine.

Pretty much all VA cab sauv tastes like cab franc and the cab franc is extra peppery.

What if you inject it with bleach?

So you’re saying he made Kluge (barely) drinkable again.

I bet it’s HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!

Less bitter than Hillary 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wines are beautiful. Anyone who wants a bottle can have one.

Is it an orange wine?

Todd will be looking into that very strongly. Very strongly. He knows banning better than anyone.

Anyway, the wine is not good at all. It is poor even for Virginia wines, which is a fairly low bar, in my opinion.

Kluge/Trump was never a good winery. It’s bad enough and notable enough that it makes things tougher for good wineries such as Linden and Barboursville.

Do imported grapes from the Loire carry a 25% tariff?

FDA does not recommend ingestion.

I don’t know this wine.

Your grab the lovely wine by its punt.

Maybe some UV and sunlight exposure is all this wine needs to open up?

Do not apply heat; it has died already.
