GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
I've been looking for a nice light glass that not only allows wines to shine but also won't break the bank when I invariably crack one while washing them. Recent blunders include a Grassl 1855 and a Gabriel Glass Gold, total of $100 down the drain and entirely my own fault.
GLASVIN seems a new addition to an ever increasing number of handmade quality glasses available and is priced at the QPR level for sure. I've tried it on two Chianti wines, two old red Tablas Creek Esprit, and a young Gigondas, and been extremely pleased. It performs almost as well as the GGG. The bowl is slightly larger and allows for the wine to expand nicely, sometimes the GGG focuses the aromas slightly better although not always. The weight is about the same and the clarity of the glass is excellent. It's a standard tulip shape with excellent room at the bottom if you just want 2-3oz.
For myself this is going to be an excellent everyday glass that could also be used for offlines. For great wines and discerning guests I'll use my Grassl 1855 or Cru, while the "heathens" get the Grassl tasting glass, which is also nice and sufficiently sturdy that I don't have to worry too much unless they decide to throw them in the fireplace!
First picture shows the shape pretty well with a Chianti that seems darker in the picture than it actually was:
The second is a line-up of GGG to the left, Grassl tasting in the middle, and GLASVIN to the right:
My only minor complaint is the name and only because in my native tongue "vinglas" is the word for wine glass. But who knows, maybe some Scandinavian was involved in the development.

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
I don't know David K but he offered me Glasvin test drive via WB PM so I've been using it side-by-side with my Grassl Liberte for the past month. I think these two glasses are oriented to slightly different uses so this might not be the ideal comparison but it is what I have handy.
Overall the quality is fairly comparable and the differences are a matter of taste and purpose. The Liberte has a more exotic shape while the Glasvin is more classic. The weights are identical (3.5 oz). The rim thickness on the Liberte is slightly finer, giving the Glasvin a more durable feel when cleaning. Empty, the Glasvin is more balanced and the Liberte is more bottom-heavy. Filled, the Liberte is more balanced and the Glasvin is more top-heavy. The pear-shape of the Liberte provides some additional aroma concentration. The wider opening of the Glasvin seems to allow for more in-glass evolution which is helpful for younger and more structured wines.
While I do find myself reaching for the Liberte more frequently, I would be happy to be served from either and can recommend Glasvin as a high-quality option. I didn't know the price at the time of the evaluation but I gather from post #1 that it is also less expensive.
One other thing to note is that the Glasvin packaging is extremely durable and elegant; even suitable for gifting.

Peter, you should know Chris replaces glasses for $10 shipping charge for breakage (at least those purchased here I believe) Not discounting another nice glass, but the Grassl warranty is incredible. Thankfully I’ve not had to use it ![cheers [cheers.gif]](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)

Life is too short to drink from a bad glass.
Love seeing high quality craftsmanship come to this space.
Exciting times indeed.
Best wishes on the endeavor. I’ll grab a few and report back.

Thank you Chris - Grassl is one of the great glasses we were inspired by.

I've made a coupon code for this forum - WINEBERSERKERS - that gets the price down to a bit more than $25/glass for 2 glasses and a bit less than $25/glass for 4+ glasses. Everything is free shipping!

How many glasses did you try to buy. When I put in the 4 pack last night there wasn't a shipping charge but I might change that to a two pack. (Didn't check out yet)

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
Sorry about the 4.90 shipping charge. I set it so that when it's over $95 it's free but because of the discount it moved it into the not free territory. It's my mistake, and it has been fixed. I will refund shipping charges to anyone who inadvertently paid for it yesterday.

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
Thanks Peter. I definitely have a wine glass fetish developing. Love the Grassl 1855 for the vast majority of wines I drink. I use the Zalto Universal for Champagne and Riesling. Occasionally, I will break out the Zalto Burgundy, but that is becoming more rare. The GLASVIN glass definitely looks nice.

I'm in for 4 as well. Look like great glasses. Very timely offer as I'd already decided that the stemware in our "quarantine house" was just not up to par. Especially in light of the significant increase in wine consumption during this period! Thank you!

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
just got mine in. ok. these glasses are legit. I just tasted this with the zalto universal and the GGG. I love the feel, smell, taste. Also the boxes they come in are foam inserts, so perfect for travel. The weight distribution on the glass with some wine in it is perfect. THe zalto is a little top heavy, GGG a little bottom heavy, the glasvin is great. The grassl have a good balance too but the bottom is kinda too big for me.
Not sure there is a glass better under $25. I bought an 8 pack so it was $21 a glass.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I really appreciate everyone's support. We have to reserve some as replacement glasses - that's our top priority. But the lead time isn't crazy - a couple of months.

Order in - thank you for the discount. Don't really need new stemware, and love my GGGs, but I seem to break one every other month. Almost as expensive as my wine habit.
Down to my last couple, so I was going to be looking for new glasses soon to replace them.
Have to say, all the testimonials were persuasive. Looking forward to receiving them.

Hi, we changed the store to take pre-arrival requests. It will take roughly 2 months to get another shipment. No credit card is required, and you can still buy these glasses at the same 40% off using the discount code. Feel free to change your mind after you place the order, of course.

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
These are great glasses! My only previous glassware has been Riedels. Initially, we were highly skeptical of the Glasvin- they are so light and thin that they almost don't seem real. We quickly came to love them for that lightness and found them to be a pleasure to hold. Our Riedels now look and feel like something people suffered through in the 20th century. We also love the Glasvin bowls both for how they focus the aromas and for how they encourage a smaller pour. We got six glasses out of a bottle instead of our usual four! We’ve now used them twice – with an OR Chardonnay and a Alto Piedmont Lessona – both with the same positive results.
Also, David personally reached out to me unsolicited and apologized for slow shipping. Very nice.

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
Received mine today.. Don't have wine today but did try it with a beer.
Love the lightness of the glass. The bowl size is great for beer (and probably champagne).
The balance in the hand is awesome, the mouth feel is great with the really thin rim.
I find GGG useless for wine (except maybe bubbly), but i LOVE GGG for beer.. will try some wine with the Glasvin tomorrow, but so far, i like this for beer just as much as the GGG..
Really do enjoy all the innovation and new entries into the glass market.

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
Also received my 4-pack today. Nice packaging, very secure, love the foam.
Put them through their paces with '18 Carlisle SC Zin, '05 Defaix Vaillon, and Tarlant Zero Brut Rose. Side by side with Grassl tasting glasses, which have been an incredible workhorse over the past year or so that I've had them.
These glasses feel amazing in the hand, great balance but also a sense of sturdiness. On the nose and palate these seemed to elevate every aspect of each of these wines. Great purchase.

Re: GLASVIN a new handmade glass for $25!
Did a more comprehensive trial of the Glasvin, and here are some thoughts:
Overall: the build quality is great. This is essentially the 'universal' version so the bowl is on the smaller side. Super light weight, but great balance in the hand.
I look forward to trying the bigger bowl versions coming up
All wines tried with Glasvin vs Zalto Bdx
Bubbly: This is where Glasvin excels. Much more better focus on the fruit, where as the Zalto was perhaps too large and dissipates the nose. I preferred the Glasvin for a bubbly
Jura White: Ganevat. Since the wine is almost beer like with the funkiness, i expected the Glasvin to shine and it definite did. Much higher intensity of fruit, indian spices.
White burg: Here the bigger Zalto bowl made the nose much more expansive. Where as the smaller bowl of the glasvin muted the nose a bit. Look foward to the glasvin-burg!
Also tried 4 reds, but by that point, i stopped taking formal notes. Both Glasvin and Zalto tasted similar at that point
