I rarely drink white wine from the picturesque Provençal village of Chateauneuf du Pape. The reds are some of my favourite wines on the planet. There are a few whites that I enjoying drinking in appropriate circumstances. However, in general I often find the whites lacking in freshness, interest and acidity. I bought this old bottle some years ago and decided to drink it at home, to comply with social distancing.

Mid amber colour. Light nutty aromas with hints of dried citrus fruit. The mouthfeel is fresh and delicate, with a persistence that is admirable. Zero oxidation. It’s not every day that I get to drink and enjoy a 50 year old wine.
