2004 Mas de Boislauzon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Quet - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (3/15/2020)
– decanted 1 hr before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over a few hours –

NOSE: spicy cigarbox; “dark”; concentrated plum; hints of anise and molasses; not funky.

BODY: medium-full bodied; rustic garnet color of deep depth.

TASTE: cigarbox; ripe, and full-flavored, but not OTT: dark & smoky; no brett; not hot; tannins are a touch drying; medium-low to medium acidity; this is much gutsier than many '04 CdPs I’ve had; tannins may ultimately win the race with this wine, but there’s still lots of fruit left: Drink Now through 2025. Ash gut impression score: 91 – 92.
