For the event tomorrow (Friday), some of you may want to share what you are opening. I took a look at my CT listing and I'll do the 2013 Falstaff, which I haven't tasted since May 2017.

If you have picked a Kutch for the event, post it. Be interested to see your selections.

As a reminder, the event connection details are in Post #1 at the bottom. Thanks everyone, see some of you tomorrow at 5PM PT / 8PM ET. STAY SAFE!

I'm going with a bit of age...if I was "techy" enough to post a pic, we would all be looking at a Kanzler 07!

Buek, I thought about opening the 2018 Sonoma Coast Chard, so perhaps you give that a go if you got your shipment already.

I'm IN! In addition to a '16 McDougall Pinot, I too will have another glass from my bottle of brandy which we cracked a few weeks ago - terrific stuff!

I posted my picture earlier so I will stick to discussing the wine.

Tonight I Coravined a 2011 Savoy Vineyard. Sharp nose and tart fruits on the first sip with no wait time. 45 minutes later this wine evolved wonderfully. Brilliantly smooth and lush consistent with previous aged Kutch Pinot Noirs, the flavors were savory plums that paired wonderfully with Cyress Creek Humbolt Fog cheese you can find in most any cheese shop. Light and enjoyable on the nose these wines are a treat for most any palate. Based on recent sampling of aged (8 - 10 year) entry level Kutch wines, I highly recommend pairing them with savory food. The wines are really nice and can stand on their own but when paired with rich foods they really sparkle.

For tomorrow night, it will be Coravin again (but hopefully poured 45 min in advance), I will start with the 2012 Sonoma Coast and pair it with some fresh grilled chorizo.

With Frank opening a 2013 Falstaff, I will probably Coravin a 2011 Falstaff (I believe my last one) to compare with his '13.

I see Jeff will be pouring a 2010 McDougal. I had one ~10 days ago and it was spectacular. I hope your shows similarly.

Cheers!

Just a tech question Frank (or anyone else).......

I hope to join tomorrow night. If you have like 30+ participants, how does the Zoom software handle that? No way that 30 poeple can be on the video at the same time, right? If they can, that is awesome......

Phil, the Zoom tool will partition the cameras across the screen. You should be able to arrange your view based on a few display arrays, whether you want to tile it or just view as a single person view. My sense is we will have a good turnout tomorrow and so we'll just find our way through it.

Len, the way I did it when the WB series started last week was to just click on the link, then allow your computer to do its thing. For everyone, if this is your first pass at Zoom, I'd strongly encourage you join early and do the downloading 10 mins or so prior to start. We're not going to be able to troubleshoot IT issues so just do the best you can. You may see some prompts during the install. to include things like 'join with computer audio' etc.

Thought I'd get this posted to start some sharing. You're welcome to add TNs to this thread, as it would seem it best we collect them all here and keep the thread centered on the wines, too.
  • 2013 Kutch Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/27/2020)
My 6th bottle since release. Opened yesterday so the wine has enjoyed a full day of gentle air under the open cork. Maybe a hint on brown around the edge, just a subtle maroon. The aromatics here mix lots of whole cluster signature, with herb, rose petal. The texture has filled in more since yesterday, supported a core of brisk cherry fruit that is equal parts juicy and also creamy. The finish carries a raspberry tang, red apple, blood orange, black tea, herb and a slatey tannin. Listed ABV is 12.1% and there is absolutely no heat or anything heavy here. A delicious, juicy, tangy red fruited Pinot Noir from a vineyard that every year delivers for me. Falstaff is king!

Terrific event tonight everyone. We had 29 people on, with various vintages and plots of Kutch open.

Jamie, thanks for spending the better part of 90 mins with all of us. You've continued to refine your craft year after year and it shows. Hang in there through these times and for all of you that came on, thanks for the fellowship and connection we made tonight.

Fun and informative way to stay connected. Thanks Frank for setting this up and Jaime for taking time to try this out. Dana is on the Kutch site right now so we'll see where she takes this. Great to connect with folks that joined. Cheers and safe wishes to you all.

Mike, it was great to see you and Dana tonight. It's reassuring in these times to see faces of people who I associate to joy, friendship, good times. You guys be safe, and tell Dana to enjoy the website. [drinkers.gif]

Frank....thanks for the organizational drive to put this together. Jamie...thanks for some awesome juice and spending time with this bunch of housebound introverts. I'm thankful for the tech and opportunity to spend some time outside my head during this long strange trip. If you haven't tried it yet...Zoom is seamless, free, and fun.

Yes, Frank, that was great. Thanks for organizing.

Jamie - Thanks for taking the time, that was really enjoyable.
Nice talking to you after all this time. I can't believe that dinner at Paumanok was 15 years ago last month! Where does the time go?

Hey folks, for those of you that were on the event tonight and if you're into writing TNs, post them here. It'd be cool if some of you logged these to the thread.

2014 Kutch Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. "Zoom group tasting with Jamie Kutch tonight. Easily one of the handful of top California chards I've had. The yin/ysng of power, alcoholic restraint, and sheer complexity is mind-blowing. Granny Smith apple, ripe Meyer Lemon and tart Zuzu notes float weightlessly above a solid foundation of barrel weight and acidic structure. I just want to keep sticking my nose in the glass all night. The finish is long, generous, and compelling. Thank you Jamie, for your passion and drive to produce wines at this level." 93+ points
