Retailer Wine Shipping Bill Introduced in Michigan

A wine shipping bill has been introduced in Michigan. SB 819 and HB 5579 would make shipments from out-of-state wine retailers of wine and spirits legal in Michigan.

A press release concerning the bill is here: Proposed Michigan Bill To Fix Unconstitutional,  Anti-Consumer Bans on Wine Shipping

The bill page is here: https://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(kkfrw511ibzfbdbxlrxba42g))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=2020-HB-5579

A consumer letter writing campaign will get going next week aimed at committee members where the bills are set to be heard.

Unbelievable. I’m willing to bet that the two are wine lovers.

If nothing else, they’re looking out for the taxpayers.

This is outrageous:

Michigan has spent over $1,000,000 defending the anti-consumer law.

Finally MI has a few people with brains in public office!

Tom, thank you for posting this.

Any updates on this? I saw that separately, a court case affirmed the state’s position on prohibition.
