2004 Darioush Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/9/2020)
– decanted 1.75 hrs before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over a couple hours –
NOSE: ripe, rich, dark red fruit smoothie; no pencil shavings; no funk; big, ripe, modern Cab.; hint of cumin seed; noticeable oak.
BODY: black-garnet color of great depth, with a hint of bricking at the edge; full bodied.
TASTE: ripe, plush, purple-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon; prunes; oaky; alcohol is a bit noticeable (labelled at 14.8%); bought at the winery in 2007 and cellared ever since. Good for the style, but it’s not a style that appeals to me anymore. Drink Now.
