TN: 2004 Vietti Barolo Brunate (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

Decanted 6 hrs. From the moment of the first scents hit, it was clear this was going to be one special bottle. Deep, soaring notes of roses and soy gave such a nice mix of floral and saltiness. Dark cherries provide all the requisite fruit one would want, and like the nose, very floral, lavender-esque, good driving acid and basalmic tones on the back half. The real pay off was the buoyancy and lightness of the palate, so much material delivered With such nimbleness and grace. Decade(s) of good drinking but showing early greatness. I think Brunate is my favorite Cru and nothing to change that opinion here. (96 pts.)

Great note, Dale…My daughter gave me a bottle of this nectar as a birthday gift a few yrs ago…I can still remember the roses and cherries, shared with a good friend last year…wonderful wine.

Lovely wine Dale.
