TNs: 2017 Beaucastel CdP, 2008 Gimonnet SC Millesime

Fantastic pair of wines tonight.

The 17 beaucastel from 375 was absolutely stunning and a worthy successor to the amazing 16. I went back and reloaded a few more bottles after having another last night. A bit more Mourvèdre than usual, so it takes a little more air to get started than the 16, but was hitting on all cylinders after 30 min in a grassl 1855.

08 Gimonnet Millesime SC was lovely. Great verve and acidity and beautiful lemon zest on the nose, very well integrated and a long finish. Not as complex as some 08s but a fantastic drink. Probably not a buyer at $100 but at 60 or so it’s great.

So good to hear Michael as I just changed an order from the 16 to the 17 as the latter was in stock and the 16 was floating in tariff jail in France. Sounds like its open for an early sneak peek.

I think it is, but needed just a little more air than the 16 at this point. It has a little less density than the 16 but a little more rusticity/character.
