2002 Nikolaihof Riesling Vinothekfüllung Wachau
This dry Riesling spent 16 years in 3.500-liter oak cask and bottled in in July 2018. Demeter certified.
After the first sip this Riesling reminds me on my childhood when I sometimes put pebble stones in my mouth. Such mineral driven and in addition a purity combined with a saltiness in the finish that really impressed me. Reminded me a little bit on the famous „Schlossberg“ Riesling by Breuer from the Rheingau region, also such uncompromising dry, pure and mineral driven including loooong aging potential.
You would never rate the vintage, still such young. You have to decant it. In addition a remarkable structure&finesse and also drinking pleasure. Flavors are based on herbs, green tea and of course stone.
