TN: 2000 Les Cailloux 'Cuvee Centenaire' Chateauneuf

80% Grenache, 8% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre. 30 minute decant. First made in 1989 to celebrate the centenary of this vineyard. And what a fine wine we have. Full-bodied, fabulous & savoury on the nose. Lots of secondary going on here, plus a touch of tertiary which adds much complexity to the aromatics under the red/blue fruit, smoke, meat, herbs, leather, even a hint of cedar (ugg) and feral whisper, yet nicely fresh. Gorgeous textures, great structure, long finish. Lovely ripe tannins. In fact, anyone who wouldn’t enjoy this shall not be tolerated, will be subject to an inquisition, the heretics fork, a Judas cradle, stoned, hung drawn and quartered, burned at the stake and then thrown to the lions. At its peak with a long plateau ahead. 14.5% 94pts
