1985 Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe Cavalieri del Tartufo - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (2/6/2020)
This is actually a Cavalieri del Tartufo bottle, purchased from Chambers St approximately six months ago. The bottle was opened three hours before serving. I decanted it off its sediment at that time into a narrow base decanter. I poured one glass that I followed until serving. Initially, the wine showed mostly stewed fruit and tertiary elements but at three hours, it had evolved into a lovely wine. I picked up light red fruits, clear acidity, and the classic tar and rose components. It had a long finish and still showed a bit of structure. Paired excellently with homemade pasta with butter and fresh shaved black truffle. (97 pts.)
