2017 Bordeaux UGC recap

Attended the UGC yesterday during the day at Cipriani in NYC. It has been almost 10 years since I last attended. That thing called ‘life’ got in the way. I know nothing about the vintage it has been years since I have sampled some of these wines. The vintage that all the vinters were tasting was the 2017 vintage

Saint Emillion - For this region all the wine showed well. Great fruit, not oaky or tannic, but great out of the bottle.
Ch La Gaffeliere
Ch Larcis Ducasse
Pavie Macquin
Ch Valandraud
Ch Villemaurine (great wine that I have never tasted ever before)

The Pichon Lalande was one of the better wines tasted.
Others were Cantemerle, Ch Citran, Gazin

Find of the day: La Tour De By: Great value stunning fruit and very well made from the Medoc
Sauternes/Barac: The standout was Sigalas Rabaud

Duds:
Talbot, dead on arrival, maybe a bad bottle, but nothing really shone here
