TN: 2011 Domaine Fourrier Bourgogne Blanc

From vines planted around Chambolle. Delightful. Not a sharp edge in sight. Very smooth and rich, with notes of butterscotch, lemon curd, roasted nuts. A hint of spice gives the wine some lift. Not amazingly complex, but deep enough to hold attention. Very nice for the level. Would drink up remaining bottles.

Actually near Chambolle, but not in the commune of Chambolle: in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux! Quite a few Chambolle producers have their regional appellation holdings in that area, such as Roumier and Barthod.

I am realizing “around” was not the clearest word to use there! A big fan of regional wines from Gilly generally, particularly Barthod’s Bourgogne.

Me too! Yet there are actually some abandoned, overgrown parcels in that sector. Which would be inconceivable a few hundred meters up the road.
