TN: 2003 Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir

Found this hidden in a corner of the store room and decided to see how it has aged. Broke the cork, so there is a 1/8 in ch cork circle floating in the bottle. First sip was massive, sweet black fruit. Would have guessed it was a Syrah. After 10 minutes in the glass the wine has settled down. The sweetness is reduces and black berries drive the wine. Still big and viscous with a 30 second finish and there are some tannins and acidity lingering to bolster the wine. You might win wine of the night at a Syrah tasting with this big boy. It’s got some years left but the corks might not. If you have one I’d suggest you enjoy it with my limited palate of smokey cheddar, Salami, Pepperoni, you know, the stuff with big flavors.
