I was just writing a post about this! I'm afraid to add new wineaccess promos to my account because they might bury better promos. This is an unfortunate feature of their promo system. It would be much better if you could pick any promo to apply to each order.

It kinda sucks but also I like how many promos they give out...

I'm pretty sure if you throw 250 worth of wine in your cart it will use the 100 off 250 instead - at least it did for me.

Is the 2008 Latour Corton Grancey any good? I have been hit or miss on the few latour wines I have tried.

I personally think Louis Latour reds are subpar. The whites are slightly better.

strange---if I use the browser on my phone it shows 10% cash back. If I use the app or the browser on my computer there is no cash back offer.

It seems quite random, though there must be some type of logic to it. My recent experience was this:
- cart contained > 250, 100/250 was applied
- removed items, dropping below 250, offer switched to 15%, next in line
- added items to go > 250, 15% still applied
- closed browser window
- returned and 100/250 was back

These are bottles I find interesting:

$21.95: Daniele Conterno Langhe Nebbiolo
$24.95: Clos de la Roilette Fleurie (priced a little higher than I normally see it)
$29.95: Halcon Tierra Petite Sirah (haven't had this, but I like Halcon)
$29.95: Penner Ash Eola Amity Hills Pinot Noir (haven't tried, but seen some excitement about it)
$32.95: La Ca Nova Barbaresco (somebody noted it seemed harsh, but a couple of other people chimed in saying they've enjoyed it recently)
$32.95: Band of Vintners Cabernet Sauvignon Consortium (not my favorite, but I know a few wine geeks that enjoy it)
$32.95: Ridge Lytton Estate Petite Sirah (could be cool to try it against the Halcon over a few days)
$34.95: Bedrock Evangelho Heritage
$34.95: Ridge Zinfandel Pagani Ranch ($29.95 on 6)
$34.95 / $39.95: Fontodi Chianti Classico 2017 / 2016 (cool to compare 2 vintages side by side)
$37.95: Ridge Lytton Springs
$39.95: Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2009 (good price for half bottle with some age, halves are nice because they age faster)
$39.95: La Ca Nova Montestefano OR Montefico Barbaresco 2017
$39.95: Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 (could be interesting to try against the La Ca Nova 2017s)
$49.95: Aubry Ivoire et Ebene (Champagne)
$49.95: Montegrossi Geremia (I just bought 4 of these to get it at $44.95/bottle - needed some Super Tuscan in my cellar)
$49.95: Montegrossi San Marcellino (really wanted to buy these instead of the Geremia, but have a ton of Chianti already)
$49.95: Bedrock Heritage Sonoma
$59.95: Suduiraut Sauternes 2007

I'm not going beyond that price point. to try some different things and get an idea for differences in style, if I had 50/250 I would probably buy:

$24.95: Clos de la Roilette Fleurie
$29.95: Penner Ash Eola Amity Hills Pinot Noir
$34.95: Bedrock Evangelho Heritage
$34.95: Ridge Zinfandel Pagani Ranch
$39.95: Fontodi Chianti Classico 2016
$39.95: Produttori del Barbaresco
$49.95: Aubry Ivoire et Ebene or either the Montegrossi San Marcellino or Geremia

Daniel and Max gave good suggestions. If you are looking to broaden your palate, I would would also add the Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelrich Riesling Kabinett Halbtrocken at $19.95 as a possibility to see if you like Riesling with a bit of sweetness.

Looks like a new Wine Access Amex Offer is available for targeted accounts:
  • $50 off $150 -or-
  • $50 off $250
Offer Terms
  • Each offer can be repeated 3x (quite nice)
  • You can reach the spend target through one or more transactions (also nice)
  • Expires 9/30/2021
Seems to be appearing on personal cards that haven't transacted with Wine Access in the past.
Good luck.

Thanks for the heads-up! Just activated mine (AMEX Plat). I got $50 off $250, up to 3x. I've purchased from Wine Access in the past, so maybe someone who hasn't gets $50 off $150.

Thank you for the heads up - I see the offer on my card. For the AMEX offers that allow repeat use, do you know if you spend $450 (assuming using the $50 off $150), they will credit the $150 for that one transaction or does it need to be three separate purchases of $150?

That's worked fine in the past.
If you want to be sure, you could buy 3 x $150 GCs (which has also triggered the offer in the past) to avoid per-order overshoot and maximize use of discount links.
If you want to go this route maybe buy one $150 eGC and confirm the offer triggers first?

For the AMEX offers that allow repeat use, do you know if you spend $450 (assuming using the $50 off $150), they will credit the $150 for that one transaction or does it need to be three separate purchases of $150?
I'd be careful. This worked for me many times previously, but on a purchase about a month or two ago I did not get the multi-credit. I'm not sure what changed.

Thank you Robert and Chris for the advice. I'll take the gift card approach to be safe, thanks!

Amex offer is not applicable if shipping to most states. Please read the fine print.

I'm really surprised wineaccess would want to be associated with something like this. I'm guessing a lot of people will not read the fine print and may feel tricked, unhappy, and bitter. It just doesn't seem to fit their business model of providing good customer service and keeping customers happy. Fine print:
"Excludes for [sic] online orders delivered in the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming."

Wow - I should definitely have read the fine print. However, I did purchase a gift card to see what would happen. I can report back if I end up getting a credited for gift card purchase as not sure the gift card meets criteria for "order delivery."

I did get an email from Amex after purchasing the gift card of them recognizing that I have utilized an Amex offer with them mentioning that " If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will have successfully redeemed the offer and you'll see a credit of $50.00 on your statement." Guess I'll see....

I posted about this already. Some people think they won't be aware of where the wine ships. We'll see.

Amex does not know where your order shipped to. You will be fine.

Amex doesn't know automatically, but they could have some arrangement whereby Wine Access has to give the okay signal that your purchase qualifies. The email from Amex confirming that the offer was tripped says it's conditional: "If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will have successfully redeemed the offer and you'll see a credit of $50.00 on your statement." Could be that not being in the right shipping state will constitute not meeting the offer terms?

I haven't gotten my credit yet, two days later, but I'm still hopeful. It wouldn't be much of an offer if it didn't apply in 45 out of 50 states when the merchant is an online outfit.

In my experience, the credit can take 3-4 days to post. In addition, Amex is usually pretty good about making things right if you have a legitimate complaint. Some offer fine print that basically excludes 95% of customers seems like something worth complaining about.

It does look like shipping zip code is passed to Amex assuming that their relationship with WineAccess provides “Level 3” transaction information. Still, I’ve never seen an offer with such restrictive terms so I’m not sure what will happen here.

I was gonna say in my exp Amex Offers do take 3 to 5 business days to post and sometimes I've seen them take up to 7 (Airline Credits).
And yes Amex are one of those card issuers that is known to get level 3 data from transactions (So if you read up on CC Churning blogs, you'll see people being removed and shutdown for buying too many gift cards at a super market, etc.)

That being said I don't recall those terms in last summer WA Bonaza ... and I got all of my WA Credits.

Has anyone seen the Vinfolio Amex offer lately? I had it on a couple of my cards, with a fairly far out expiration date. However it seems to have just fallen off? I don't know if I activated it or not. But either way, I would think it would still be there.

Per Amex term “ Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 9/30/2021, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant.”, you may not see the credit until Nov or Dec 2021. I have not seen the credit of the offer $30 off $100 expired on Feb 28, 2021.

Thanks for that. Interesting. Makes it a LOT harder to know whether to complain, or if you want to try and use the deal again given the doubt over whether it's going to work, when you might not know for sure there's an issue until months after the thing expires!
