I finally just got my first Wine Access offer on Amex - $30 off of $100 or more, usable three times. And $120 gets free shipping, so it would be foolish to spend $100 but not $120. So this is really a $30 off plus free shipping deal on an order of $120 or more. I've already used the $50/$150 first time/referral discount on a prior order. Other than the 5% Rakuten, am I correct that there's nothing else to "stack" on an order? Or am I missing something?

I also just got an Amex offer of $30 off of $50 or more on Wine Insiders. Does anyone know anything, good or bad, about them?

Check the WineAccess thread. You can stack the AMEX 30/100 on top of WA promos like 30/100, 50/200 etc etc.

Tons of deals to be had.

Thanks, Peter. Just went through the last 3 or 4 pages of that thread and didn’t see any WA promos, just lots of discussion of their private label wines. Is anyone aware of any currently active promos that aren’t for first-time purchasers only?

Possibly of interest: a coupon code good for 15% off a $500+ wine purchase at Zachys.com (New York State):

KNOCKKNOCK15 (expires November 15, some exclusions apparently)

Even with Zachys' unusually high shipping charges, and taxes collected for out of state orders, I was able to use this code to acquire some excellent recent Brunellos at hard-to-beat prices:

2015 Talenti (WE96/JS96), 2015 Casanova di Neri (WA94/JS94), and 2015 Ciacci Piccolomini (JS98/WE97), all at $44.99 per bottle before discount, and about $46 per bottle net to me after discount, shipping, and taxes.

Couple things you can do.

If you haven't bought from WA you can use a referral code http://share.wineaccess.com/v/peter_57 to get $50 off of $150 or more (if you use the link I'll also get a $50 credit). You can use that with your AMEX offer. Keep in mind, from AMEX' standpoint, your final $ amount after all discounts/promos must meet their $100 threshold or you won't get the statement credit.

Here's an additional $30/100 if you click it: http://www.wineaccess.com/enjoy30

There are several others deep in the thread, want to say pages 7-11ish, offering other $30/100s or 50/200.

You can only use each promo once per account.

So best I can tell after wading through the WA thread:

1) WA doesn't do codes, they do links.
2) Everyone loves posting their referral link, but I'm not a new customer and I already used a fellow WB's link when I made my first WA purchase (and I'm not going to set up extra "new" accounts for my wife, my kid, etc.) so these are useless to me.
3) The Rakuten cash back is for first-time purchasers only, so again useless to me.
4) The only active link that works for a repeat purchaser is the "enjoy 30" link. I tried the 100/300 link in Peter's post 1756 and it said I was ineligible.

Yes? Are there any other active WA links anyone is aware of that work for established customers?

That's odd Dave - I wonder if they 'retired' that one. Hunt thru the actual WA thread, there are mode links to promos. Start at page 1 and just look for non-referral links.

Hi! Lurker for a while, first time posting. For WineAccess, another link is wineaccess.com/enjoy20.

It is 20% off and I got it from snail mail. Says first time only but worked for me after having purchased 5 times previously and I used it in October. I just checked using incognito and it seems to still work...

Not as good as 150/50 promo, but if you buy a higher dollar amount total it can help (>250$).

Also some wines are not eligible for this discount, I think WA blocks certain items from going below a certain $ amount post discount promos.

Lastly, as others have posted, and depending on your wine budget, after you spend $1000 they give you straight up $100 credit that can be used like cash (i.e. you buy $125 worth of stuff, qualify for free shipping, only pay 25$ after credits). Not sure how long that offer would last though - I got it back in October.

Also, as stated above AMEX deal just needs to be total amount (including tax - i.e. > $100 posted on your cc statement (including tax / post discount) = trigger rebate). Obvious for you I guess you would try to get it as close to $120 pretax as as possible.

Thanks, all. I think I'm getting a handle on it. On the $100 credit after you spend $1000, does that happen automatically or is it one of those "offers" that one has to "activate"? If the latter, how do I do that?

They sent out an email earlier in the year. Not sure if you can activate it. When you hit it, you get an email saying congratulations on $100 credit.

I'm sure another 16% or even better, a 20% RMN cash back, will be offered again soon.

ebates/rakuten is 11% cash back on wine.com today. for me, the rate of credits tracking smoothly on there with no manual intervention is about 50%. at least when it needs interaction their bot/human ends up usually crediting for the subtotal value rather than net (post discount value).

I bit on some Willi Schaefer at Wine.com -- with the 50/150 and 20/50 coupons, the prices were great.

In PA, they have (prices before coupons, which can be maximized due to prices right around $50...):
19 Graacher Dompbrost Auslese #11 - 52.99 (32.99 with 20/50 coupon....) — EDIT: See Daniel’s post below about this being a 375 even though listed as a 750
19 Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese - 49.99
18 Graacher Dompbrost Spatlese #10 - 54.99

I have not had bad experiences (though others have.... check the other thread), and these were available for next day delivery

The Auslese is actually a 375 mL, I had to talk to CS about this. I'm surprised it still hasn't been corrected

Seems intended for purchase of StewardShip but works for any order (at least in terms of triggering the discount in-cart).

I noticed this on a different “collectible” bottle last week. Coupons worked on some bottles but not others.

There's a very attractive AmEx offer for Wine Insiders, but damned if I can find a single thing I want to buy there, lol.

Turley Old Vine Zin was offered at $34.99 (not .97) before it's sold out, but only shipping discount (StewardShip) can be applied.

Got a mailer from Wine.com with the following coupon codes through 12/31:

HOLIDAY10 - 10% off orders of $150 or more
HOLIDAY25 - $25 off orders of $200 or more

Not great, but if someone can use them?

Here’s the special berserker-only offer at WineBid: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=174998
Apparently I'm lazy, have a narrow agenda, and offer little in the way of content and substance (RMP) (and have a "penchant for gossip" -KBI)

On my AmEx card, lots of wine offers. Filtering for bang:

B Cellars: $45 off $150 or more
Stags Leap: $60 off $200 or more

Since offers are personalized, YMMV.

Like almost every Amex offer, they are discounted because the original price is 30%+ more than fair market value. There are exceptions (Benchmark?) but that is the rule. Seriously, if you are paying MSRP at Aveda, you know they are charging you a king's ransom for a few ounces of their nectar of the gods, and you simply have enough money to not care about the amount they withdraw from your accounts.

If you can suggest a deal from B Cellars or Stags Leap, I'd love to hear about it.

...or they want to attract more customers that buy directly from them and this is them funding customer acquisition.

Stags Leap:

Cab (estate) '17: $60 MSRP, $42/btl online at the winery or $36/btl if you buy a case. Shipping and taxes excluded. With AmEx offer, buying 5 bottles ($210) or a case ($432) reduces the cost per bottle to $30/btl (5 bottles) or $31/btl (12 bottles). Lowest price on WS Pro: $33.33 (Wine Library). Community average on CT: $48

This is the worst-case scenario: it's their most popular wine and it's widely available everywhere. In this case the difference between retail and AmEx offer is small. Still, the AmEx offer + buying direct is 10% lower than minimum listed retail. It's not a great deal but it's certainly a deal. Can you get it for less? Maybe at auction but you'd have to hunt for it and outbid all other home players. A 2012 of this wine recently went for $40 + vig = $47 on WineBid.

The only other wine of theirs listed on their website I am familiar with and can recommend is a 2013 Late Harvest, a Sauternes doppelganger. With MSRP of $65 for 375ml, it's overpriced. They offer it for 20% off per bottle on the website so 4 bottles = $208. With AmEx discount it's $148 or $37/btl. At $65, I wouldn't buy it but at $37 it's in the "let me try it" territory. It's not available anywhere else, no listings on WS Pro and I haven't seen it in auction. Is it a deal? Depends on whether you like this type of wine and the producer.

B Cellars:

As a producer, they're a notch or three above Stags Leap and therefore a better deal. Wine I recommend:

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard: MSRP of $210 on the winery website, with AmEx offer: $165. Lowest retail is $250 on wine.com. CT average is $170 and WS Pro average is $230. Lowest I've seen is a 2013 vintage on WineBid for $130 and that was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
