Checking my Amex after purchasing from wineaccess, my single purchase was over $300, they credited $100. Guessing $50 for each $150. After the $50 off referral on sign up and this, getting two bottles of the 2007 Billecart BdB for $106/each

It seems like WDC has been ratcheting up their prices more than usual. I've seen a few in-stock bottles that had price increases last week (L'aventure, Columbis CdP, Muga, and others) which is a little unusual. The craziest example is the 2007 El Puntido gran reserva 2007 which has been available for a while in MD for $55/btl and was just released in CA for $135/btl. It also seems like the $50 off $150 promos are increasingly becoming $50 off $200+.

Holy shit, I looked at it yesterday and it was $57. WineAccess still has it for $59 in case you want it.

To me, it seems they ratchet up prices fairly routinely. If you see a good price, buy it, because they often increase with time.

Also, 2 orders placed in the summer, on the cusp of my stewardship expiring, had wines that were out of stock 2+ months later. But they sent me $50 off $50 promo codes. That suckered me into buying Stewardship again. I feel dirty.

To be fair, I've bought 12 bottles from them and I feel like I've gotten my money's worth considering the price of shipping.

If all goes well, you spent hours determining which wines have non rip-off prices, you actually get the wines you ordered and they didn't ship it when it was 90+F, they are EXCELLENT prices.

Disagree - it's a terrific wine and ought to be right up the alley for almost any LdH fan.

Thanks Keith, any other thoughts on the wine in general or simply another traditional Rioja worth trying?

LdH Riserva vs Vinedos Puntido Gran Riserva, I do not know. But if the poster in the LdH thread is correct about the new LdH Gran Riserva pricing, we will be paying a LOT more for LdH Gran Riservas when they next release. Like 2.4x more.

I noticed that too, across other categories as well. There also seems to a whole lot more back vintage (non discountable) stuff too, which pumps up the top line numbers of what is theoretically available, but a 78 Guigal La Mouline for $4k isn't germane to me.

The economy is improving, and WDC is likely facing higher warehouse labor and shipping costs, so perhaps they are trying to squeeze buyers a touch more. A few Rioja reports also came out recently and its possible that El Puntido got some flash score from someone. Kind of strange to see it north of $100...I picked up 2006 for $40ish.

I think they watch this thread, and having been called out on that item, adjusted the rate. But other Rioja like Muga Especiale ($32 at TW) went from $39 to $49 overnight or stuff like San Vicente from $51 to $69. The latter was just at $41 at K&L a little while ago as well.

I get that some price dynamism is normal/ok in online retailing...but if they are expecting less clueful customers to just reload on prior purchases when looking at their history tab, normal people would notice those $ differentials.

But as I noted before, it could also be that scores were published, and that select names are getting revalued due to that.

Who knows.

WS low shows around 90 for me. Even with a 15% off that drops it to around 80. Not bad for their 2016, but if you want cheaper, you can get the 2013 for 20 less.

Eh, I just bought. 85 before any discounts with free ship is a damn good deal for the 2016. No-brainer if you have the 100 off 250 (3x comes out to 255).

Only 7 bottles left anyways.

I mean it was like $66/bottle (incl tax) if you bought it when it was a “limited time offer” plus a 20% coupon. I suspect that is why people don’t find $95 pre-tax a very good deal.

I for one am grateful for this tip. It enabled me, with a $50 off $150 discount, to acquire 2 bottles of Fuligni 2016 for under $65/bottle, tax included and shipped free. It would cost 40% more per bottle to get it anywhere else.

It was actually $85 pre-tax which was the same as the pre-arrival price for a 6 bottle minimum. $77 on pre-arrival if you bought a case.

So unless you were planning to buy it in case quantity, the posted deal was as good as it got. I rarely buy in case quantities so I thought it was a good deal. And good enough for others since it quickly sold out

DanielP wrote: April 28th, 2021, 10:13 am Eh, I just bought.

And good enough for others since it quickly sold out
My bad, I missed the part about it showing up as $85 in the cart.

Just got another wine.com "we miss you" $100 off $300 codes. Just so hard to find stuff that I really want where even a potential 33% discount makes for a good deal.

Not being able to get cash back on the 100/300 coupons really reduces their value. You can get the same combined discount with a 50 off 200 coupon at the current 12% cash back rate on RMN.

Exactly. It is backwards to go and try to find something worth drinking because you have a discount coupon instead of searching out the wine you want and finding the best price for it.

How would that be policed by WDC and/or RMN? I don't see how they could know, and it doesn't appear to go against any of RMN terms?

Also, I know this has been broached somewhat recently but futures have been eligible for the cashback by RMN for some people right? I ordered a few 2019 bordeaux futures and they aren't showing on my RMN account yet even though WDC charges in full for those at the time of purchase.

How long ago did you purchase?

Rakuten, but not RMN, expressly states in their terms that you "may" not receive your cash back if you use a coupon that didn't come from Rakuten. People here have reported not getting Rakuten cash back when using a 100/300. I'm not aware of anyone being denied RMN cash back for using a 100/300 or any other coupon. Major difference!

RMN has always paid cash back on futures purchases for me, but never automatically. I had to manually submit them via the "contact us" page at RMN. Even non-futures purchases where I asked for delayed shipment to avoid summer weather never showed up automatically until the wine actually shipped, even if that was well after the 45 days.

More "FAQ" type info for those who need it at this post a few pages ago:

All the cash back sites say they *may* not give cash back if you use a promo code that is not provided on their site. In practice RMN has always paid cash back on WDC promos 50 off or below. They don't pay on 100/300 coupons according to Jin (see post #1 in this thread).

I for one am grateful for this tip. It enabled me, with a $50 off $150 discount, to acquire 2 bottles of Fuligni 2016 for under $65/bottle, tax included and shipped free. It would cost 40% more per bottle to get it anywhere else.
Same here. Thanks

Just as a data point, I have received cash back from RMN on every wine.com purchase I've used them for, including a few using 100/300 coupons.

I have used more than 30+ 100/300 coupons last year, none of them able to automatically track the order. But you can contact customer service in 45 days and they will manually add the cash back to your account.

For anyone not watching, pretty substantial dump of 10-20 year old BDX and a few bottles of WV Pinot on WDC today.
