I am not the one to write here and this is my first post. I asked the chat person which part of my order was not understandable. She hung up on me and banned me from chatting again. I have 2 dozen other orders and I am worried as I live in Central Valley where weather is in 3 digits. I am copying below my complete actual chat (minus the name and order number for privacy)

This year I decided to have a moratorium on online wine buying from June 1 to October 31. The original motivation was to prevent myself from spending money while we were buying a house (closing Friday!), drink down a little of what we had, and more frequently shop at our local independent stores during the COVID downturn, but it turns out to have the added benefit that I don’t have to worry about any hot-weather shipping snafus. It’s been easier than I’d imagined - since harvest started in mid-August I haven’t had any time to think about wine buying anyway - and I’ve calculated I’ll probably save about $1,000. Thinking of making it an annual thing.
While I appreciate the sentiment, I'm rather against absolutes. What if someone offered you 2009 Château d'Yquem for $100 a bottle, you don't buy it because you made an oath? I try to raise the bar on purchases, but don't want to exclude them completely when a gift horse is within eyesight. And to be relevant to this topic, wine.com has presented several opportunities that are close to gift horse pricing.
I mean, the stakes are pretty low. If I miss out on a great deal on a bottle of wine, nothing bad is going to happen. There are so many more great bottles of wine in the world than I will ever have the opportunity to drink, I don't even think about the "missed opportunities". Who cares? There'll be another one tomorrow. So I approach my wine buying pretty casually. Plus, from November-May I'm generally only buying wines at great prices anyway, and pretty sparingly, since I don't have money to burn.

If I saw a good vintage of d'Yquem online for $100 I wouldn't buy it regardless because that would be deeply suspicious. And if I find great deals in brick and mortar stores through the summer and fall, the moratorium doesn't cover them.

Of course, people should do whatever works for them. This just works for me.

After the wine.com debacle I described above, I received an email from my local wine storage stating that the rest of my wine.com orders (supposed to deliver later this fall), were delivered today in the heat. This was about $1K worth of wine. I won’t order from them again unless I can take the shipment right then. No excuse for this.
I guess people are going to have consider that part of their value proposition is that Hold til Requested Ship Date doesn't work as intended for this vendor. Bake it into the 'deal' when considering a transaction.

There are actually a lot of popular vendors (that WBers use) that I don't do business with because their T&C or other business practices don't work for me.
This one is mind boggling to think they would ship wine during the heat. They know that wine can't handle high temperatures. I've held back from purchasing anything online from a retail vendor during the summer just for this reason.
All of my Wine.com orders were shipped today to Las Vegas. Needless to say, it's way too early to ship here and I'm attempting to communicate my concerns to them. Conversations last night and again today have yielded zero productive next steps. A lot of, "this order is out of our hands right now", and "our computer systems screwed this up". 14 bottles of wine, mostly daily drinkers, with some grand cru Chablis in there too. Not too happy.

Ugh that totally blows. I was going to order some 17' Tignanello with the 10% off from Rakuten but didn't trust them to hold it based on reports like yours. I'm in SoCal and we are probably into late October before it is safe to ship unless it comes GSA with ice.

Some 100/300s would cure all this ill will towards wine.com. Hopefully they release a new batch soon.

I received a $100 off $300 email from Wine Access a few days ago. Does anyone know how often they send those out, or did they just notice I hadn't made more than a couple of purchases?

Wine.com coupon - use “HIHEAT” and you’ll get free shipping and your wine heated at the random time not of your choice.

In my experience, they add the promo to your account, it's not a link or discount code.

You said you received an email, there should be a link in there. That is how the other 100/250 and 30/100 have been treated.
Are there any links in the email you received?

Here’s a link from an email I received a while back if that’s helpful.

$100 off $250 on WineAccess:
https://u8212107.ct.sendgrid.net/ls/cli ... 2BZQ-3D-3D

Make sure you sign up using a referral code before clicking the above link so your account will have both promotions ($100 off $250 and $50 off $150) that you can use on your first two orders.

Referral link:

Oh and Geyserville is back in stock on WineAccess (in California at least)

You'll have to wait a while, most likely. They put out these promotions in waves. I've gotten it more than once, but I'll also note that the promotion got significantly worse the second time around. First time $50 off $150 (3x), second time $50 off $250 (3x).

I've used all the promo codes available for Wine.com.

Am I correct by following the precedent of creating an account for my wife (who of course lives at the same address), pay for a stewardship membership, and then being able to take advantage of all the promo codes again?

Also, any tips, tricks, promos, or other advice for setting this up and going forward?

A few interesting bottles available on WineAccess, unfortunately it looks like I missed out on the 2016 Cavallotto.

2017 Guigal La Doriane - $100
2018 Ridge Geyserville - $40
NV Laherte Freres Blanc de Blanc Brut Natur - $60 (good price with codes below, can easily be found elsewhere for ~$50 if not using codes)

I'm not going to do all the math of how cheap on a per bottle this is based on stacking tons of codes since the codes available to everyone will be different. Just know that you can stack Amex + new member or new site offers to effectively get $100 off $200 or $100 off $250.

Active codes
New member $50 off $150: http://share.wineaccess.com/v/michael_220
First order on new website (I used this after my new member signup order, so my second order)
Many folks have $50 off $150 on Amex. A tip on this is that amex will only show you 100 offers at a time. If you are itching to get wineaccess as one of the offers, just add a bunch of other ones and it may come up (worked for me)

Please let me know if folks object to my posting my referral link. I try to chime in on discussions in many other areas of the forum where I have knowledge to add (still early on in this fun and crazy hobby for me, looking forward to gaining more knowledge that I can share). I'm happy to edit this post and remove the link and only provide that via PMs if preferred.

The only thing to ruin would be the ability to have two accounts at the same address. If Wine.com has no problem with this, then I do not.

Any helpful advice for proceeding with two Wine.com accounts at the same address?

Geoff

Wine.com says one per household for their offers but they don’t have any checks in place for that policy, they don’t check billing or shipping addresses. Just use a second email address. Some here have (many) multiples of accounts so completely up to you. Would be a bummer to get to the pearly gates and have them pull up your multiple wine.com accounts out of your file and give you the thumbs down, if you believe in that kind of thing ;-)

I only use one account but mainly from a cash flow decision.

Cheers

FALL50 is $50 off $250

Not sure if folks noticed, but RMN is showing Cash Back again for Wine.com purchases (it disappeared for a while). Unfortunately it's only 1% right now, but here's hoping we get back to the days of 10%+ CB!

As a matter of fact, I just checked Retailmenot, and their cash back for Wine.com is back up to 10%.

No kidding. I will stop following this thread and start following the "wine.com delivery fail" thread.

Once they get through these current issues, I will probably still purchase from them during times when I'm able to request immediately delivery. However, I'll no longer be placing orders and asking them to hold bottles for me unless/until they clearly establish the ability to do this properly in the future. But I'm not going to be the Guinea Pig for that.

I've never had a problem with their shipping so not an issue for me. I shipped into the early summer and they actually included cool packs in my shipment. I find that if I delay shipping and am using RMN cash back I have to go in and request the credit from RMN so I try to order on the day I want it shipped.

Hold up. Full stop. I have never heard of this for this particular retailer. Has anybody else seen this before from wine.com?

2 bottles of La Doriane well under WS avg pricing with free shipping. Thanks!

I've had several problems with shipments, but they have always made good. Example: Just this past spring I ordered a few bottles of Ramey Ritchie Vineyard, but they shipped me Fort Ross-Seaview. They asked me to return them, but the replacement order was more bottles of Fort Ross-Seaview. This time they told me to keep those errant bottles, and on the 3rd try I received the correct bottles of Ritchie Vineyard. That was all fine with me, since I got some nice bottles for the cost of a little bit of time and frustration. But it certainly shows that they have some issues with their operations.

Has anyone gotten the Amex deal added to their card more than once? I have a feeling that that was a once-per-card event
I'm 90% sure I've had it twice on one card. Had it way back in the beginning of the summer and got another one this month.
Thanks. I keep looking . . .
Sorry for late response but just reading through the posts. I have gotten the Wine Access Amex deal several times. The latest being x3. Only issue being that they keep upping the minimum spend.

Thanks for sharing Dan. Looks like this works for all accounts, not just first time purchases.
