TN: 2002 Dom Perignon

After the Patriots lost to the Titans, I needed to celebrate as a Steelers fan suffering behind enemy lines.

I purchased a case on release at Costco and this was my last bottle.

Not a bad wine, but certainly not worth the $115-120 I paid. Very foursquare with no overt flaws, but really didn’t stand out at all. The wine was still very fresh and lively, I saved half of the bottle for the next day, but it didn’t change much. A disappointment for sure, I would take 3-4 NV Roederer Brut Premiers over this particular bottle any day.

Don’t think this is going to wake up for 5-6 more years.

Interesting. I’ve quite liked the 02 DP over the past couple years (after finding it consistently disappointing on release and thereafter), but I also think it’s not yet at apogee.

I loved it in ‘15 but it’s been more reticent for me lately.
