TN: 2009 Edi Kante Chardonnay La Bora di Kante Venezia Giulia IGT

This was an - I’ll take a flyer- at Envoyer purchase for me. I’ve been exploring more Italian wines, in general and whites from the north. This was quite nice.

Aged for 24 months in old barrels, bottled unfiltered, and aged another 5 years in bottle before release.

This is reminiscent of top-notch Chablis. Crystal clear in the glass. Mineral. Spring-like aromas. Fresh white fruit. Green apples and wiry fruit. Very light touch on acidity, I could have used more, but the roundness brought an aged elegance. Sweet in the middle and lingering, cool, spring-like flavors.

The 2010 Edi Kante Vitovska Selezione was pretty good as well.

Good to know. He’s on my radar now. Interesting wines up in that area.

Still tastes young to you, Dennis? These age very well.

I would definitely say on the youthful side, but not clearly demanding more time, if that makes sense. In a drinking window, but really held up all night. I am going to sit on my other bottles for a little bit.
