TN: 2002 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc

  • 2002 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (12/30/2019)
Popped and poured to accompany cracked Dungeness crab. Cork stained on the top, a very ominous sign, but fill was good. Medium golden color, with a pure nose of hyacinth, sea air, white stone, lemon peel. On the palate, a kaleidoscope of flavors including rich white pear, honey, apple core, schist, and tart grapefruit cascading amidst a steely spine of stony structure and tensile acidity. Long finish of lustrous white tart fruit, a touch of iron, and aristocratic grip. Despite the cork, it showed very well. What a treat. (93 pts.)

great note. Drouhin Mouches always over performs in both red and white

Suzanne,

I’ll say. This and the 1979 rouge were highlights of the year for us.

Cheers,
