Revisited this wine last night:

  1. Caves des Onze Communes Torrette Dd’OC: Vallee d’Aoste (13%; HandPickSlctns) 2016: Dark color; lovely floral/violets/lilacs/black cherry cola/boysenberry/Alpine red/spicy light earthy/loamy/dusty complex beautiful nose; some tart/tangy bit earthy/loamy strong floral/Alpine red/black cherry cola/boysenberry fairly structured some complex flavor w/ light bit grippy tannins; very long some tart/tangy bit rustic strong Alpine red//floral/lilacs black cherry cola/boysenberry some earthy/loamy/dusty some complex finish w/ light brisk tannins; a lovely bit rustic Alpine red at a great price. $17.50 (KK)

  1. I tried this about a yr ago when it first showed up on the shelf at Kokoman’s. I was very impressed by it then. I still am. Val d’Aosta wines are pretty scarce in NM, so I was surprised to find it. It is distributed by National Distributors. They, of course, have no idea what a good wine this is. Much too good for their portfolio.
