TN: 2016 Day Zinfandel

Sonoma Co Zin by Ehren Jordan…pleasantly surprised! Very aromatic with nice crushed raspberry and bing cherry, alcohol is prominent but not at all overwhelming, a bit of acidity and skin tannins, and on balance has a bit of elegance. Overall I found this a pleasure to drink and will be buying a few to keep around. Anyone else familiar?

Well, he did make Turley for a number of years, if you like that style, you’ll love his own…

I’ve had a few of these and am underwhelmed; guess I was expecting “Son of Turley.” They are ok for the price point. I was at the winery a couple weeks ago but they were not pouring zins. Failla is now becoming a pretty big winery (17,000 cases) and also have the Oregon operation. I hope they don’t lose track of their tried and true bottlings. They’ve also lost the Alban viognier fruit, so that one is a goner.
