2008 Davenport Cellars Continuity - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (12/30/2019)
Day 1: Holly S... This just took over the top wine of 2019 for 3 Day Wine Review for wines under $30.00. $10.50 on their closeout special which concluded on December 28. Just picked this up from FedEx Office today and it is outstanding. No bottle shock which is a myth to begin with. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 9% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. From the following vineyards Kiona, Seven Hills, Sheridan and Burgess.
Classic Washington State. Leather, tobacco, blueberries, cherry and minerality. Drinking unbelievable. So balanced and very Bordeaux like. This would do well in a blind tasting. I am so happy my brother Brian confirmed how great this wine was as he gave it 92 points on two separate occasions. I only bought 4 and regret not getting a case. This wine should age another 3 to 5 years. 93 + points
Day 2: This is not nearly in the same league and based on that drink on day 1. You don't need to decant this wine.

Discount is over.
Glad I got a case. The one bottle I've had so far was very good - can't beat it for $10!

Day 1: Yes this is wine of the year candidate! Tobacco, spice, dark cherries, menthol, earth and dried twigs. Medium plus finish and picks up some nice exotic spices on the finish. Talk about a wine in its sweet spot. Did I mention this wine was $11 on a sale 3 weeks ago. 93 points (93 points)

Do enjoy the other 11 bottles. I am sure they will be stellar for the price. Just think how much better these wines are than the crap you get from the grocery store for that price or Total Wine.Discount is over.

Re: Davenport Cellars is Closing 65% off all Wines
I had the Orange Muscat last night. Very good, done in a dry style and only 11% alcohol. The nose is intensely floral and reminded me of some of the lighter bodied examples I've had from Alsace. This would have been a good one to get a case of for a summer sipper - I think it would be a big crowd pleaser.

I had reached out to Jeff @ davenport on Jan 3 (a couple days after the sale ended) and he said it was done but he said that they were planning to do something again in March or April. I didnt mention WB, so maybe that will make a difference.

Hate to put a damper on the enthusiasm for these wines but opened a Continuity 08 a couple of nights ago. It was barely drinkable. “Harsh” is how I would describe it. Bad bottle???? Had to pour it down the drain!

2012 Davenport Cellars Continuity - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (1/22/2020)
Day 1: Purchased this on the 65% off sale. Very solid wine and plenty of life left here. Mineral driven along with cherry, blueberries and floral notes. A very balanced effort and medium plus finish. Really get some nice iron notes on the finish. This should evolve over the next 8 plus years. Very good. 91 points (91 points)

2012 even better on day. This one has some serious cellar abilities.
Day 2: Better than day 1 and more concentration featuring spices, floral, blueberries, cherry, minerals and oak. Very complex wine and long finish. A serious wine and for the deal we got on this a candidate for top wine of the year under $30.00. 92+ points

Had the Orange Muscat last night with a homemade Thai Red Curry. Really nice, floral notes with just a slight sweetness that plays well with spicy dishes. Very glad to have gotten a chance at these.

Glenn did you get a lot of earth/tobacco on day 1? These wines for sure need to be decanted as there is a fair amount of sediment.Michael Feldman wrote: ↑

2014 Davenport Cellars R.H.D. - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (2/4/2020)
Day 1: Cigar, plum, subtle spices, dust and minerals. Elegant overall and medium finish. There is some fruit ready to emerge but might need some time to do so. Score withheld on day 1.
Day 2: More open for business. Menthol, cherry, plum, spices, minerals and fragrant floral notes. Good acidity and medium finish. This is enjoyable but lacks concentration on the finish. 88 points
Day 3: Serendipity. I left the cork off from day 2 to 3 which I never do when I do 3 Day Wine Reviews. This worked and give much promise to this wine. This is a long term ager. Featuring sour cherry, plum, spice, minerals, floral and tobacco. Very complex wine overall and much better than day 1 and 2. 91-93 points
Recommendation: HOLD! Drink this wine from 2025 to 2030. (91 points)

2013 Davenport Cellars R.H.D. - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (2/11/2020)
Day 1: Blueberries, boysenberries, smoke, mild oak, spices and dried herbs. Short to medium finish. Based on the 14 showing on day 1 I will predict day 2 will improve. 89 points
Day 2: Better and more open for business. These Davenport wines are long term agers. Perfumed nose and palate along with cherry, blueberries, spices, smoke and dried herbs. The finish is better on day 2 and much longer. 90 points
Day 3: Plenty of flavor here and this wine needs time to fully come together. Cherry, blueberries, perfume, spice and floral notes. A subtle smoke element on the finish. Medium plus. 90 points
Recommendation: I would hold these until 2024. (90 points)

2008 Davenport Cellars Continuity - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (2/18/2020)
Day 1: Decanted some sediment and this wine is awesome. Cherry, plum, menthol, spices, blueberries and perfume. A bit different than the last 2 bottles as this is showing more fruit but is gorgeous. Medium plus finish. 92 points
Day 2: Excellent on day 2. These wines have a ton of aging potential. Blueberries, cherry, spice, earth, menthol, mild oak and vanilla. Beautiful wine. Medium plus finish. The fact this is better on day 2 should indicate another 5 plus years of aging. 93 points
Day 3: The notes on the sludge impacting the wine are confusing. Many wines over 10 years might have a little sludge on the cork which does not impact the quality of the wine. This wine is glorious on day 3. Beautiful example of the top vineyards in Washington coming together. Menthol, bright fruits featuring cherry, blueberries and plums. Spices, floral and mild oak. Balanced and medium plus finish. If you could find a Cabernet Blend in the world for under $15.00 this good then please let me know! 94 points
Recommendation: Buy this when they have their sale in late March/early April. (94 points)

Having had the ‘14 Mr. B multiple times now, as well as the ‘08 and ‘11 Continuity, I just want to chime in that these are delicious wines and - at 50% off on case purchases - ridiculously good values.
I wish I’d found Davenport years ago.

I wish I’d found Davenport years ago.

[quoteI opened an '08 RHD last night, and it was...delicious. In a great drinking window right now, lovely aromatics. No brainer for $15.][/quote] Yes sir!

I am going to try the Pinot from Willamette. This is a three-way blend of clones 115, 777 and Pommard.
Aged in French oak. Cases produced: 73 For $14 dollars can't believe much better from Oregon at that price!

Another case coming. The 2014 Mr B's have some good press from Cellar Tracker. Got 3 but when I try one might be a 2 case purchase.

My case should be here Friday. The Mr. B is one I am looking forward to trying. I got 3 but might have to go back and get a case.Having had the ‘14 Mr. B multiple times now, as well as the ‘08 and ‘11 Continuity, I just want to chime in that these are delicious wines and - at 50% off on case purchases - ridiculously good values.

John,
We found Mr B to be interesting, but a bit jammy (of course, that could ease with a few more years of bottle age). We DID order a few more in the mixed cases that just arrived here, but quite like the Continuity line. Would be interested in your take.

Not John, but I thought I’d respond.
I wouldn’t go so far as calling it jammy, myself, but the high percentage of merlot in the Mr. B does give it a degree of plushness that the Continuity doesn’t have. I like them both quite a lot, and they are both ridiculous deals at current prices.

2012 Davenport Cellars Continuity - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (4/3/2020)
Day 1: Some sediment so decant. Dark purple. Blueberries, boysenberries and ripe plum. Wonderful palate featuring smoke brisket, earth, menthol, raspberries and dark fruit. A concentrated effort and a real steal of a deal at $15.00 a bottle on the Davenport Cellars Spring Sale. 92 points
Day 2: Not nearly as good as day 1. A bit hot with blueberries, spices, earth and dried herbs. Medium finish. Hopefully this comes around later today. 87 points
Day 3: Much better on day 3. Blueberries, menthol, ripe plums, spice and smoke brisket. Medium plus finish. Plenty of life here. 91 points
Recommendation: Drink this now. I liked day 1 better than day 3. (92 points)

2014 Davenport Cellars Mr. B - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (4/8/2020)
Day 1: This is amazing stuff. Earth, black licorice, floral, dark fruits and minerals. This is a well made wine with some intensity. Serve this with a steak or burger and you are set. 92 points (92 points)
Rockstar for $11.00 a bottle!

2015 Davenport Cellars R.H.D. - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (4/14/2020)
Day 1: Needed some air to review on day 1. Smoked meats, red currants, spice and a nice mineral streak. Again these wines exceed the quality in relationship to the price. $14 for this wine puts it in the top 1% of any wine in the world at this price point. 90 points
Certainly worth buying at the price.

Re: Davenport Cellars is Closing 65% off all Wines
2016 Davenport Cellars Pinot Noir . - USA, Oregon (4/15/2020)
Day 1: Had to try this as they were making some nice Washington State Reds so worth a bottle. Dark purple for Pinot. Wood, strawberry, rose petals, sweet cherries and perfume. While this is not my ideal Oregon style Pinot Noir this is really tasty. Might have to get a few more for every day drinkers. 89 points (89 points)
For a Wednesday night not a bad offering. Certainly not amazing Oregon Pinot but this is $14.00.

2014 Davenport Cellars Mr. B - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (4/16/2020)
Davenport Cellars Wines; 12/30/2019-4/16/2020 (Minneapolis, MN): Day 1: Just got it today and rocks. Yes you can get a shipment of wine and drink right away. Nice fruit featuring blueberries, cherry, plum along with menthol and mild earth. Tasty is a great descriptor. Probably will be my top under $20 wine of the year. 92 points
Day 2: Solid again. Fruit forward style featuring cherry, plum, blueberries. Menthol, spice and underbrush. Medium plus finish. One of the great QPR's out there. 92 points
44% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec and 12% Cabernet Franc.
Fruit sources include Sheridan Vineyard in Rattlesnake Hills, Les Collines in Walla Walla and Kiona on Red Mountain.
Recommendation: Case purchase. (92 points)
Can't go wrong with $11.00 on this one. I am getting another case. This is a great everyday drinker.
