TN: 1999 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese

1999 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (12/21/2019)
Elegant, intricate and intellectually engaging, the 1999 Himmelreich Spätlese maintains youthful peach and nectarine fruit notes, along with lime zest and saline elements. It’s balanced on the head of a pin, and needs to be served close to cellar temperature to show all the palate depth. Youthfully mature, this is great for drinking now, yet has enough stuffing for another ten or twenty years.

Do you think it’s best to serve older Rieslings a bit warmer than younger ones? I’m planning on opening a couple of '99s (Zilliken (Saarburger Rausch GKA and GKA Auction) with my tasting group next weekend, but I’m not sure if I should just open them straight from the cellar or throw them in the fridge first.

I normally put them in the fridge, but take them out 30 minutes prior to service.

This wine in pretty much any vintage is excellent and it is cheap. Great combo.
