2017 Ovum Riesling Off the Grid Cedar Ranch Vineyard- USA, Oregon (12/12/2019)
Light lemon straw color with a light lemon nose. Tart with a bit of rs and lemon zest. Medium body and fruit with a good balance of the acid and rs of the fruit. Drinking as a sipper, but would be nice with some Asian stir fry or hot wings. (92 pts.)
Bumping this because I just had a bottle of the 2019 Off the Grid and it was fantastic. Like a tropical fruit salad … pineapple, peaches, apricot, mango tossed with lemon and lime. I felt that it walked the line of having a nice sweetness but reined in by a lovely slightly-tart finish. Drank the bottle over 3 nights and had it with both hot wings and sushi and thought it was terrific with both.
Love these wines. I bought a mixed case of the rieslings in the early days of the pandemic, and which one is which kind of blurs together, but I love them for their weight and distinctive style.
