2009 Chateau Bernadotte Haut-Medoc

Medium deep ruby color. The aromas are wonderful, red and black plums, a hint of violet, a touch of spice. The palate is good, but not quite as good. There is a medium-bodied texture, abundant but fine tannins, nicely balanced acidity. The flavors are similar to the promise of the aromas, but less subtle and less open. This is reasonably rich in texture, but the tannins intrude a little in the finish. A big, unsubtle mouthful that is still very young at 10 years. Rated 90, could improve 2 points in 5 years.
