2011 Piper Cabernet Sauvignon

Had this recently with Colorado lamb chops. The 2011 is very different stylisticly than the 2012 that I had last, but equally delicious. I’m reluctant to refer to Cali. Cabs. as Bordeaux like, but that was my impression with the 2011. Beautifully structured, with no residual sweetness, this is an elegant wine. Talented winemakers can make superior wines in difficult vintages. My first of six and I’m looking forward to the rest.

Glad it showed well! I agree that my 11 is BDX-like. Lower alc, very slight pyrazine note that reminds me of a 1999 BDX from Pauillac. Age 8 and looks like it has some good time left.

I haven’t had the ‘12 but 2010 and 2011 were both very good, in different ways. As much as I liked ‘11, ‘10 was silky and dark, a solid counterpoint.
