Black Friday Deals

#1 Post by John Glas » November 29th, 2019, 5:57 am

I am sure everyone will get there's first and then post. Wine Library has some good deals however their list price seems inflated.

https://winelibrary.com/search?page=10& ... ghly_rated

Work a bit and there are some good deals in there.

I was just about to ask the same question. I don't see the offer on their website.

sokolin has a sale with a few deals; mags of 06 cristal for reasonable price if anyone needs those. GVWM had a decent deal too; 06 dom mags for <500. I ended up just grabbing a mag of 164 for 398 from them which isn't bad.

Benchmark is having one of their frustrating-to-search bin sales. As far as I can tell (I find it problematic you seem to have to search mutiple price catetories blind and can't arrange it to only search, say, Bordeaux that's for sale) the only French wines discounted are Champagnes. LMK if I'm wrong.

yeah their sale this year sucks. Last year's was great. Vilmart CdC 09, marchand tawse 14 beze and barthod cras 13 were all $100. The only sorta not really great deal was 02 P2 for 375.

The Mousse l'extra Or for $35 is a great deal. For people looking for a grower champagne that is farmed clean, and mostly Pinot Meunier with no dosage, it is excellent. I have some already or I would grab more.
My WOTY candidates for 2019:
2014 Marie Courtin Eloquence BdB Extra Brut
2017 Rivers-Marie PN Platt SC
2017 Kutch Pinot Noir SC PN
2009 Roederer Cristal Brut
2017 Carlisle Zin Mancini Ranch RRV

My best wines of 2018:
2017 Kutch Falstaff Sonoma Coast PN
2012 Marguet La Grande Ruelle Ambonnay

I like the 15% off everything much more than the selected sales. There's rarely anything really good on sale on the "selected lists" of sale products that are posted.

Have received a couple attractive emails from Flickinger. 2007 and 2006 Dom Ruinart for $119/ bottle, or $99/bottle if you buy 6. 2016 Insignia for $215/bottle, or $204/bottle if you buy 6. The Dom Ruinart offer seems pretty nice, but only 36 bottles avail..

The key, as always, is to be selective. Every wine retailer is having a Black Friday "sale", and all of us who buy wine on-line have our inboxes deluged today. I've bought 2013 Brovia Barolo from Morrell, 2015 H. Lignier Burgundy from HDH and 2013 Il Poggione Brunello from Zachys.

Sunfish Cellars in MN is having a great sale right now.
Goes today and Saturday.

PM ME IF YOU WANT MORE DEALS AS I SPENT 3 HOURS GOING THROUGH EVERYTHING.

All the prices on their site plus 10% off of that. If you get a case they take 5% off up front and then the 10%. You also get a 2% loyalty credit.

Here are some of the highlights:

2016 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia $199 (Around $170 after the discount plus the 2% loyalty).

2011 Bodegas Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea $55.58

Got a few of the Brovia as well, but have bought far less than in recent years. Have also found most of the sales generally uninspiring.

Got a 750 bottle from a friend for one fourth that price. Average price 750 on cellar tracker is $191 and mag is $493 so not really a good deal.

champagne mags are usually much more than 2 x the price of a 750.

The 164 mags I posted earlier are an exception. The Dom mags at 488 are probably 3 x the price of a 750 but still the best available deal.

I think the carbonation and amount of glass plays some role, and sometimes the wine is different, as in krug, but most likely because people will pay the higher prices. I think champagne tastes better from mag and it definitely is more fun to pop mags. I usually don’t keep anything bigger than mags tho.

Those grand Siecle at hdh are about 2x the regular 750 price w the sale which is really good imo.

50 off 200 at wine.com. so 25% off if you can hit the 200 mark. not as good as the 100/300 coupons on the other thread but still not bad.

K&L does not have a field for coupon codes at checkout, only gift cards. Plus there is nothing on their website showing black friday deals, so I am super curious what they have. Unfortunately I am not at home so can't go to their store to see, but I will certainly stop by on Sunday and ask!

I completely agree and picked up a mixed case heavily weighted with Muscadets from the 9AM offer and then went back and grabbed a case of the 2015 Charvin CdP for $34.99/btl in the subsequent offer.

My guess is that cyber Monday will make up for the overall let down some of you may have been feeling today but I guess we shall soon see.

They bumped their Bordeaux prices big time when the tariffs went into effect. I did a quick check of a small part of their bin sale and then deleted it.

Im a sucker for a good deal. Went a bit nuts with wine.com promotions (combined with rakuten) and wineaccess with the referrals and amex credits ( This thread has details on codes and links -- viewtopic.php?f=1&t=165139&start=100 ) . In total I am in for multiple hours of shopping and bought:

2017 Maison Frederic Magnien Bourgogne Rouge
2017 Domaine Marius Delarche Corton Renardes Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Reserve
2017 Gerard Raphet Chambolle Musigny Les Bussieres Cuvee Unique
2017 Charly Thevenet Régnié Grain et Granit Beaujolai
2016 E. Guigal Saint-Joseph Rouge
2018 Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône
2016 Château Tournebrise Lalande-de-Pomerol

Bouchard vosne-romanee 2011
2017 Mortet cinq terroir
Domaine martot santenots volnay premier 2012
Vincent Girardin volnay vielles vignes 2015
Bouchard 2013 Beaune Close de la mousse premier
prieure lichen 2015
Chofflet-Valdenaire Givry Clos du choue premier cru 2015
Frederic Magnien Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes 2014

Combination of daily drinkers, things for the cellar, and wines to explore a region or producer. BTW: The Chofflet-Valdenaire Givry 1er is freaking awesome and at a really great price point (my total was $26 or so). We had it the other night and although pretty young it drank well with an awesome nose. I think I am going to start getting more into Givry wines. QPR seem to be really high.

I am tracking this black friday thread pretty closely because of my wine buying dopamine needs. I think on deck is WTSO magnum marathon on Monday. Not sure if that will have any goodies.
