TN - Dugat-Py Pommard La Levriere & Stony Hill Chardonnay

  • 2013 Stony Hill Chardonnay - USA, California, Napa Valley (11/27/2019)
Noted several hours after opening. Light gold color. Showing steely aromas of lime zest, oyster shells, acacia flowers, saltwater taffy, hints of herbaceousness. Zesty and savory palate following a similar pattern as seen on the nose, over a mid-palate core of crushed rock minerality and earth spices. Ample depth and complexity, with crisp medium-plus acidity and broad-grained fleshy structure. Finishes with lingering salinity and spice. Secondary, but still very crisp and bright. This seemed slightly advanced and dumb at opening, but came alive after a couple of hours. Very memorable. Drink with decant, or hold. (93 pts.)
  • 2007 Bernard Dugat-Py Pommard La Levrière Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard (11/27/2019)
Dark ruby color. Aromas of black cherry & pomegranate, smoked paprika & allspice, crushed rock and hibiscus. Succulent dark fruit and mineral high tones on the attack, with black tea, earth and savory spice accents. Very nice flavor intensity. Angular and dense middle with lingering secondary depth. Bright juicy acidity with fleshy medium-grain tannins that should further resolve with time, and juicy lingering depth on the finish. Still very youthful, showing well but recommend holding. (92 pts.)
