I’m debating between Cristal '08 and Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millésimé '09 as my last Champagne purchase. I promised my better half just to get one last bottle before end of year.
Assuming they’re priced the same, which one would you Champagne connoisseur recommend to get?
I,haven’t had the egly ouriet (I’m not a fan of the house style) but 08 cristal is truly outstanding.
08 cristal is amazing, most potential of any champagne in recent memory.
Do you have either yet? I would make my decision depending on your current holding and how many of each you already have.
Why does that matter? I have 5+ cases of the 08 cristal and would still rather buy that.
I’d rather diversify than drink the same champagne for years and years.

still can. Assuming 12 b cases, 60 b over 20 years is only 3 a year . . .
As the question was asking for individual opinions, I said what I would do. If others wants to buy 50 cases of the same wine that’s not my business.

In that case, I too would go with cristal.
The Egly Ouriet if you want to drink over next 1-8 years, the Cristal if you’re cellaring long term
