California wine most like Latour?

My group is having a Latour tasting. I am bringing the 96. For an in between flight I am thinking about a California cab/blend. What wine do you think is most like Latour?

Eisele Vineyard Estate?

Mayacamas

Kapscandy?

Don’t agree on Mayacamas, sorry Buzz.

Wouldn’t Kapscandy be too new-worldish? That would be Mouton!

I’m thinking a mature Dunn Howell Mountain.

I don’t find Latour that rustic with the iron flavor Mayacamas and Dunn can have young. I find Latour rich, but balanced. Only Kapscandy I had, 2005 I believe, was in same zip code.

Let’s be frank Latour is Latour, no one else is close.

Dominus maybe?

Old school Montelena? (c.1985-1995)

Bryant 1997

Spottswoode?

Ridge Monte Bello.

Dan Kravitz

Chateau Latour purchased Eisele from Araujo, so this makes the most sense to me.

I agree and you have a nice story to tell.

Rereading the initial post and realizing nothing is like Latour except Latour, if it is a 1996, I may throw Dalla Valle in mix. I am realizing what a ridiculous exercise this is, as Latour is an icon.

Awesome, I did not know that. I’d go that route for sure.

Further agreement!

Margaux

Also, none of my picks are dead ringers, but…

Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow. It can bring some nice graphite to the table.

2014 MacDonald reminded me of Latour. Older, I like Montelena as a pick.

Simple…1994 Dominus! Fifteen bottles over 25 years…just keeps on getting better.
