2008 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile

#1 Post by Jeremy Holmes » November 13th, 2019, 2:46 pm

An ebullient nose of restrained exoticism, smoke and petrol. It is rich, complex and layered in the mouth. There are notes of custard apple, rockmelon and Tahitian lime. It finishes with excellent cut and is dry, with a saline mineral quality.

I am very interested in this wine, but have been having a difficult time sourcing it for a reasonable cost. Trimbach seems to be one of those producers that really sells their lesser wines and holds back the premium ones. (my experience, yrmv)

They don’t hold back at all. Trimbach’s distribution sucks.

LOL. I loved the 2008 as well, but the 2007 is really my style.

Anyone had the 2010?

22 Nov 2013 - verticale at the domain :

June 2018 - verticale at the domain (mix of CSH and FE) :

A attendre patiemment.

had it at Trimbach 1 1/2 years ago. Solid, not at the 08 level, IMO.

My impression of the 3 CFE 2010 I have had is that they all seemed unfocused and a bit botrytis tainted??.
2011 is much better IMO
And 2008 is even better. Best vintage CFE for me

I tasted this "strange vintage" 2011 with Pierre Trimbach in june 2018 :
Riesling Clos Ste-Hune 2011 : 17/20

Time will tell ... for this wine and I suppose also for the FE 2011.
