2005 Domaine Grand Veneur Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (9/22/2019)
-- decanted immediately before initial taste --
-- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --

NOSE: stinky cheese --- epoisses; dark, tanned leather; dark strawberry jam; some alcohol fumes noticeable.

BODY: some sediment present; dark ruby color of medium-deep depth; slight bricking throughout; lots of suspended particulate matter; medium-full bodied.

TASTE: leathery strawberry; dark; earthy; dark fig; hint of smoke. Seems to be in the early part of its prime window; for my preferences I would continue to Hold, as it's somewhat dark and muddled right now.
