I stumbled across this on YouTube and at first I was shocked, then I laughed out loud, then I felt really bad that people are paying $3,000 for a wine tasting with this man. If you look closely at the 1:38 mark there are two bottles of Henri Jayer ('59 & '64) that, to my mind look so fake it’s offensive. Maybe the '59 looks like it’s the right glass, and maybe it’s really authentic, I know I’m no expert but the contrast with the dark glass of 64 seems so obvious that I wanted to post here to get others thoughts on this. I noticed one or two more inconsistencies that stood out to me while I watched this, but I thought I’d see if others noticed or maybe even treat it like a game for people.
If he’s the “anti-wine-snob” then does that allow him the freedom to screen out people that might know if he’s giving them inauthentic wines? If you don’t know Sauternes then maybe there’s nothing stopping him from buying the '75 Rieussec & then pouring it into the '75 d’Yquem to charge people huge fees for something that cost 1/10th the price.
There are so many Suckling jokes here. Was this produced by Suckling? When did he realize he was a long lost twin of Suckling? It’s dizzying the possibility of various jokes. I’ll just say, I am 100 points on this Suckling-esque video. Somewhere Suckling is tugging his ascot thinking, man this guy is Gooooooood
I really just feel bad for anyone that’s spending their money with him if they think they’re getting an education of access to rare, old (looks like they’re forged) wines.
He wants to teach billionaires about wine, but he can’t be bothered getting a decent hair cut or a suit that fits.
Are you absolutely sure it is not a parody? I don’t have sound on my computer, so I’m missing important cues. One thing that stands out is his apparent attempt to get the lady drunk.
Any time I see some service ostensibly targeted at ‘billionaires’ I assume it’s actually lifestyle marketing targeted towards people who wish they had money.
Though, I wish I had money, and yet I also wish I never cross paths with this idiot.
